SOME HISTORY OF BRATS & CHATS & IMSSF

Jean Sumption, of Tucson, Arizona, is the Chairman, President, and Founder of the International MS Support Foundation (IMSSF). Through her efforts, much valuable information has been disseminated on her website (http://www.msnews.org). I first met Jean many years ago on an AOL Chat. All the people there were very nice but one person stood out and had a little extra charisma - Jean. I invited her to go to Prodigy Classic Chat, which she did. She met the people there and really hit it off, and she helped energize the group even more. In December, 1996, Jean had a small Boa in Tucson. [A Boa, or Red Boa, is a weekend get-together of people from Chat and their significant others at different locations around the country. So far, they have been held in Seattle, CT, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Tucson.] A picture on my website on the Brat page is from that Tucson Boa, its caption is Brats at Tucson. Prodigy helped organize some Boas, and the Prodigy Classic Boa has evolved into the MSFUNCHAT Boa. Prodigy Classic Chat was the beginning of the Brats (to the best of my knowledge). Seashell3, the force behind the group, got us all shirts with "Brat" on them. Jean was one of the first Brats, along with the others in Prodigy Classic Chat.
The Brats, Prodigy Classic Chat, and Prodigy Classic BB were the start on my involvement with computer chat MS groups, which greatly enhanced my social contacts and they have given me much support.
The growth and evolution of the Chats and Brats have been wonderful and helpful to so many people. It is a testament to all involved that we have managed to continue, stay together, and grow.
I'd like to have some new members invited into the Brats: Don and his wife Edie [843273] (has MS). They were at last year's CT Boa. Also, Purple (Nancy) [13449590], Becky [603224121] & her service dog, Fritz [no ICQ#], Kandecat (Sandra) [82373299] and Aussie (Lyndy) [19469279].
